Cheeseman and Zumstein Announce Driver
Pay Increase
Zumstein - a truckload carrier
located in Lewisburg, OH announces its second
driver pay increase in 15 months. The 2006 increase
in base mileage pay, effective March 19th, will
add a minimum of $.01 per mile for all drivers.
The increases raise the entry level pay to $.36
per mile for drivers with one year experience.
Experience and service will then elevate base
mileage pay to a maximum of $.40 per mile. In
addition to the base mileage increases, an extra
$.0025 per mile is paid for drivers possessing
proper credentials for transporting hazardous
materials AND for all drivers,
they are paid an additional $.02 per mile for
all miles driven in PA, NY, VT, NH, ME, MA, CT,
RI, NJ, DE and MD, elevating the maximum mileage
pay to $.4225 per mile.
Cheeseman - Fort Recovery, OH an
associate company of Zumstein also announced its
second driver pay increase for the same period.
The 2006 increase in base mileage pay of $.01
per odometer mile will increase entry level pay
to $.33 per odometer mile with one year experience
to a maximum rate, with three years experience,
at $.35 per odometer mile. Cheeseman will also
compensate an additional $.0025 per odometer mile
to drivers possessing proper Haz Mat credentials.
Cheeseman a multi-stop carrier continues the benefit
of paying actual and all miles driven and $10.00
to $40.00 for each stop.
As a continuing effort to promote
safe driving, both companies revised their Safety
Incentive Program by guaranteeing cash pay out
to all drivers who are accident free, injury free
and attend safety training.
Both fleets maintain a program
to reimburse Haz Mat drivers for the cost associated
with the TSA finger printing and background checks.
Zumstein and Cheeseman combined
operate 370 power units in regional service with
a strong emphasis in promoting and achieving frequent
home time for drivers. This initiative and its
premium compensation and benefit program have
resulted in driver turnover rates for 2005 far
below national averages with Zumstein at 45% and
Cheeseman at 28%. The average driver earnings
for 2005 for both companies exceeded $52,000.00
with top earnings above $75,000.00.
